Let’s Meet the Author

First and foremost AlexSandra "Sandy Lynn" Lett is a country girl who was raised near Lett's Landing, the site on the Cape Fear River where her ancestors from Ireland arrived 255 years ago. She is a native of Buckhorn community, located in the middle of Nowhere about 12 long miles from a Somewhere called Sanford and four miles from a no-stoplight town known as Broadway, "pert-near" 40 miles from Raleigh, the state capital of North Carolina.

The author -- called "Sandy Lynn" when she didn't fit in to the mold of a traditional Southern farm girl -- grew up writing, singing, and dramatizing. She "took a fancy" to the written word at an early age and was editor of her high school newspaper. When she attended college it was only 35 miles away but about 35 years ahead of her rural environment in terms of openness to new ideas and different lifestyles. She received a distinguished journalism scholarship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated in 1976. Later she pursued graduate studies in communications at N.C. State University in Raleigh.

For several years AlexSandra wrote a weekly newspaper column called "Natural Living," which established her as an expert on preventative medicine and led to many speaking engagements. She published a book Natural Living: From Stress to Rest. in 1984 and continues to endorse holistic approaches to healing body, mind and spirit.

In 1991 she founded ALL Communications in Raleigh, which offered writing, editing, marketing, and public relations services. Soon afterwards she created TRANSFORMATIONS as the vehicle for offering programs. Topics have included marketing, creating success, releasing stress, increasing energy, and enhancing communication.

In spring 2000 AlexSandra started writing a weekly column about colorful characters and saucy stories for a newspaper near Wilmington. The first installment, headlined "Set a Spell" at Grandpa's country store, was met with rave reviews from readers and led to numerous other articles. She is syndicating "Lett's Set a Spell" for distribution to other newspapers.

After the editor of a national publishing house applauded the merit of her columns and offered to publish a book in 2001 AlexSandra decided to do it herself. The result is A Timeless Place, Lett's Set a Spell at the Country Store. The publication of this book represents AlexSandra's awareness of how the creative, spontaneous and unique "Sandy Lynn" can be her authentic self and also live in harmony with the "mighty fine" folks from Buckhorn.

Through her company Southern Books & Talks AlexSandra continues to offer keynotes, seminars, workshops, and "funshops" on various topics, including bringing heart and soul to every area of our lives. Using a heavy Southern accent AlexSandra enjoys portraying "Sandy Lynn," who shares her views about the meaning of life with wit and wisdom.
